How long does it take to become a driving instructor?
This all comes down to you – your time management, determination, lifestyle and other commitments. It can take between 3 to 12 months but on average, the majority of students train and qualify within 9 to 12 months. Be honest with yourself about how much time you can commit to the course, to get a realistic completion date.
What is the quickest way of becoming a driving instructor?
An intensive course is the quickest way to get on the road. Aim to pass your ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) part 1 and 2 tests as soon as possible, so you can begin your 40 hours of training for part 3. Once you’ve passed all 3 parts, you can begin giving paid instruction on a trainee licence — this is issued by the DVSA, which you’ll need to apply for. How much does it cost to become a driving instructor?
This can vary from £1,000 to £4,000. Cheaper courses usually involve you signing a 12-month franchise contract, but they may cost you more in the long run. ITO offer a variety of packages to suit you, without a sign-up franchise agreement. Take a look to find out more.
